2020 Adventure Camp (8-13 yr olds.)
These are the most outdoor oriented, active, adventure oriented camps in the region. The goal for these camps is to keep your child active and outdoors all day. They will participate in a range of activities that Quest offers. Each year we try to add new activities to the mix to keep it interesting for returning campers. Each camp week is structured with same itinerary for each week which begins with the first day of team building (get-to-know one another), a water day of rafting/kayaking, hiking, rock wall, high ropes/zip-line as well as many other team building activities. Your child will come home very tired each day.
All weekday camps run from 9 am – 4 pm. Please drop off your child between 8:50-9 am (no earlier) and pick up promptly by 4 pm. Drop off and pick up location will be at the Quest building on the upper campus of Bloomsburg University. When printing out registration forms, please print out a copy of the “Parent Handbook”. A campus map is also included on the last page of the handbook.
We maintain camper to staff ratio of 5:1. These camps are designed for children from ages 8-13. Each week will have an open registration for the age group from 8-13. At the start of the week the camp groups will be split in half by age to create two groups, a younger group and an older group.
There are 20 spaces available for each week of camp. This will make 2 groups of 10 with a minimum of 2 staff per group. Some activities require more than two staff per group for on-site activities.
We focus on hiring BU students who plan to work with children in the future. Each year some staff stay while others move on to other pursuits. We intentionally hire some new staff each summer to keep a fresh perspective.
The camp staff is overseen each summer by a student camp supervisor who is a returning staff member. The entire camp staff is overseen by the professional staff who oversee Quest.
The camp staff is made up of students at Bloomsburg University and recent graduates. All staff would have gone through the clearance process. Each has been hired based on their experience with youth and outdoor activities. They go through training throughout the spring and summer to prepare them for their time at the camps.
For more info on the professional staff visit the “About Quest” pages to learn more about Brianne Oehmke.
